2. General
The handset can be disconnected from the junction box and used as a digital controller for ACD dicon digital system.
The ACD dual is a complete replacement of the previous resistor based devices. Instead of changing the series resistor, the ACD dual controls the output voltage to the motor according to the PWM principle (Pulse Width Modulation).
The PWM mode of operation allows a different type of brake. The so-called regenerative braking was previously activated by the connection of load resistances or by a short circuit at the trigger zero point. The resistance / short circuit has then loaded the motor accordingly and thus achieved a braking effect. The smaller the resistance value, the greater the braking effect. At short circuit the braking effect is highest. The ACD dual works differently at this point: The braking energy is not converted into heat but is returned to the power supply. Here, the braking effect begins at the first reduction of the speed. This means that the engine is braked immediately to the new lower speed. This is so noticeable in practice that the Motor speed always follows the trigger position immediately. The motor is positively guided, so to speak.
The braking effect can be adjusted via the brake actuator. This will adapt the behaviour to your own taste. The ACD dual offers better overall acceleration on starting and better braking on the corners. Optimal use of these features helps the ACD achieve shorter dual lap times. However, the braking mode on the ACD dual can be changed and it behaves like the traditional mechanical controller and brakes only at the zero position of the trigger.
3. Technique
Connection box operating voltage: 7 to 22V Continuous current: 10A Max peak current: 30A The peak current is to be considered impulsively. This corresponds to the starting current of an engine. The device can handle more power. However, if the peak current is reached or exceeded very frequently, it can cause problems.
